Tips to help you prepare for your first swimming class

You can give your baby a very light snack 15-30 minutes before the class. This will prevent hunger pains during the lesson.

You can bring a familiar bath toy. This can help to put your child at ease.

Please make sure your child is wearing a disposable swim nappy under their swimsuit. (You can get these from boots).

Bring a drink or snack for after the class as your child will probably be hungry.

Arrive in plenty of time so you are not rushed and can stay relaxed.

Children get cold very quickly and so it is helpful to have a towel/robe by poolside to wrap the child in after the lesson.

Leave your jewellery at home for safety.

The class last 30 minutes but this might be too long for some children so don’t worry if you need to get out a little early.

Please let me know if you are a non-swimmer or nervous in the water.

We aim to have fun in a relaxed environment so lots of smiling and being positive with the children is key to making them at ease in the water.
